Today we went on a journey through time. 19
Years ago I was born in Susono, Japan. Together we travelled from Tokyo to my
first hometown: a very small city ornamented
with typical Japanese buildings (small houses with pointy roofs). First we
decided to go to the mall that my mom always shopped in: Bell City. We sat down
at her favorite food place in the building and went on a tour of her routine
route. There we ate Hakigori (Similar to a snow cone) and went shopping for the
most random looking Japanese goods we could find.
Then our journey took us to the hospital
where I was born. On the ride to the hospital I found out that the son of our Japanese
friend Takao was born in the same hospital. This was the cause of a very cheesy
and hilarious picture:
After that, we went to the apartment that
was to become my first home. Although we weren’t able to enter, we enjoyed
taking more pictures on the outside of the door and on the staircase.

As some of my Dad’s old colleagues were in
town as well, a party took place in the evening. With an all you can eat Japanese menu and fresh draft beer, the evening was
off to a good start. I struggled to understand the Japanese conversations and
got the chance to speak English with some. After that night I was sure of one
thing: my next goal in life was going to be learning Japanese. At the
restaurant, there was also a basketball court, at which my brother and I played
against Takao and Riu in this beautiful town. Our new family quest is to find
the Susono mascot (Susonon) and bring it back home to Brussels.
Song of today:
